If you came here from our home page you know when it comes to workouts either to burn fat or build muscle I believe in using total body exercises and total body workouts.
* Weight Training *
* Kettlebell Training *
* Bodyweight Exercises *
* Cardio Workouts *
* Interval Training *
Keep your body guessing whether you are here to burn fat and gain lean muscle or to build as much muscle as you possibly can. By using variety your body doesn't adapt to doing the same old treadmill workout day after day, week after week. And it keeps you from getting bored also.
FAQ's
Q: Should I do cardio or weight training to lose fat?
A: As you may have already guessed do both. Stick to total body exercises. Weight train 2-3 times a week and do cardio (using interval or circuit training) 2-3 times a week.
Q: What are total body exercises?
A: Squats, Deadlifts, Presses, Cleans, Rows each of these exercises (also known as comound exercises) use more than one muscle group. Concentrating on compound exercises burns more calories and will be the shortest path to building lean muscle. As an example let's look at the Deadlift - when you use deadlifts you are using your quads, hamstrings, butt, back,and your forearms. That's alot of fat burning and muscle building bang for your time in ONE exercise.
Q: How many exercises should I do each weight training workout?
A: For the most part I do from 4-6. Again sticking with our total body workouts, use compound exercises, and workout with intensity.
Q: Do I need to join a gym?
A: No I have been working out since I am 13 years old (I'm 53 now) I have never belonged to a gym. What equipment do I use? Barbell, dumbbells, kettlebells and something to do dips(2 chairs works). I firmly believe if you are properly motivated you can get just a good a workout at home. But if going to a gym motivates you by all means whatever works do it.
